Healthy growth reported by Webhelp UK

Profits up and Chief Executive stresses Scotland's leading contact centre company well placed for future growth.

Webhelp UK, Scotland’s biggest contact centre company has reported a robust set of year-end figures despite the current economic climate and the challenges of a highly competitive sector.

The company, an increasingly significant part of the UK business process sector, saw a healthy rise of a third in turnover in the year to March 2011. That moved from just over £47million in 2010 to just under £63million in 2011 as Webhelp UK made significant business wins and underlined the increasing benefits it is bringing to a growing client list.

The year also saw Webhelp UK increasing its EBITDA for the financial year to £5.4m – a rise of 32% per cent, with expectations that this will increase at a greater rate for the year ending March 2012.

It’s an impressive performance by the Larbert-based company as the figures include the considerable on-cost of setting up a new operation in Warrington following the establishment of a new, five-year strategic partnership with long-standing client Vodafone.

Said CEO David Turner: “These are an encouraging set of figures in a challenging economy. The year also saw the establishment of a strategic partnership with Vodafone which gives the company the commercial strength and confidence to continue to grow.

“The long-term benefits from that will have a significant and positive impact on subsequent years’ profitability.

“It’s evident that we are well placed for the future. We are now strategically repositioned at the value end of our market and can continue to grow over the next few years thanks to the talent, commitment and professionalism of our people.”

His confidence is backed by last week’s announcement that the company are to open a 700-strong centre in Derby on behalf of another blue-chip client, Sky.

This will be Webhelp UK’s ninth UK site. When operational early next year, it will take their employee numbers to well over 4500 – with the space and capacity for considerably more should Turner’s growth predictions prove justified.


Webhelp UK wins national award for Inspiring Learning

Warrington Centre scoops Campaign for Learning award.

Webhelp UK's Warrington centre has been awarded the 2011 National Award for Inspiring Learning by the Campaign for Learning and sponsors The Open University. The company, which provides contact centre services, was presented with their award and a cheque for £100 by representatives from Campaign for Learning and the Open University at a special prize giving ceremony in October.

The Inspiring Learning Award aims to recognise organisations that have demonstrated how they have inspired learning through their Learning at Work Day activities. Webhelp UK ran a range of inspirational activities and initiatives on Learning at Work Day to encourage employees to think about their own development and progress at work. The company used suggestions from staff to develop an array of workshops and sessions, which included job shadowing, demonstrations from partner companies, bite sized learning and talks from local community projects. Employees were also able to sign up for recognised qualifications to support their career development. The day was a fantastic success with enthused staff eager to carry on learning.
