Three Derby colleagues have been recognised for their excellent work this year at Webhelp’s annual Star Awards, held in the sumptuous surroundings ofHopetoun House, just outside Edinburgh.

Martin Walker took home one of the top titles, Role Model of the Year (operational role), while James Saunders was named People Manager of the Year (team leader role). Martin and James beat stiff competition from more than 7,000 Webhelp colleagues in the UK to clinch these titles.

Saqib Hussain was a runner up in the Making a Difference category for his work this year for Penny Appeal.

The awards were presented by Webhelp’s UK CEO, David Turner at a glittering James Bond themed gala dinner last night (Sep 8).

He said: “The Role Model of the Year title rewards our most inspirational or motivational colleagues, who display great leadership qualities. Martin is a deputy operations manager who has been with the business in Derby for four and a half years. He is a real credit to the business and I am delighted to be able to recognise his commitment and dedication with this award tonight.

“We chose James as our People Manager of the Year because of the fantastic feedback he received from his team. They describe him as ‘awesome’ and someone who is always willing to go the extra mile to advise and guide them, even giving up days off to ensure they were properly supported.

“Webhelp is only as good as the people we employ, so it is incredibly important to talk about and reward these great examples of excellence.”

Martin and James were presented with an award and a cheque for £1,000 each. Saqib was presented with a voucher to recognise him as an individual and a cheque for £500 for his charity, Penny Appeal.
